Chakra Yoga CPD is your comprehensive exploration of the chakra system, and will help deepen your understanding and connection to each chakra, on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
10 years in the making, this course was born of a desire to share my love for adapting my own yoga practice to work with the chakra. From the beginning, I saw that others also felt the profound benefits of using the chakra as a lens through which we can observe some of the most important aspects of not only our yoga practice, but our lives and our selves.

Who am I?
Senior Yoga Teacher Aoife Ni Mhurchu: teaching Yoga since 2013, with almost 1000 hours of Yoga teacher training
My name is Aoife and I have been working in education for almost 20 years. Before I ever taught yoga, I was a language teacher (French & English) and worked in many classrooms, schools and even people’s homes both in Ireland and France. From one to one grinds, to preparing students for state exams and everything in between, I know that my more traditional classroom experience contributes to my skills as a yoga teacher. It is also why I am so passionate about the art of teaching, going beyond what you’re teaching and into the how and why of offering confident, inclusive, welcoming classes, and the importance of continued mentorship and observation on your teaching journey.
“I’m really proud of our focus on the art of teaching on this course, with teaching practice and constructive feedback. It gives new teachers an invaluable opportunity to really develop their teaching skills, experience and style.”
I have trained with many renowned teachers including Josh Summers, Swami Vidyanand, Lisa Peterson, Tony Purcell, Lisa Temple, Teresa Murphy-Moore and Grace Tempany.
I was awarded my first 200h Certification in July 2013. In 2014 I studied Raj Yoga, Transformational Hatha Yoga and Yoga Therapy with Lisa Temple and was awarded my 500h Certification in May 2015. It was during these studies that my work with the Chakra started to really deepen and develop. I began teaching weekly Chakra Yoga classes and quickly noticed how much this approach to their yoga practice resonated with participants, helping them understand how our practice comes with us off the mat and touches every part of our well being and lives.
In October 2015 I trained in Prenatal Yoga at the Transformational Hatha Yoga School in Greece with Michelle Kaminski. I have also attended workshops with the amazing Uma Dinsmore-Tuli who specialises in Pre and Post Natal Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Womb Yoga.
For the past few years I've been focussing on Yin Yoga and Meditation, and was delighted to complete my Yin Yoga training with Josh Summers in June 2018, and July 2020 I had the pleasure of completing another Yin Yoga training, this time with the wonderful Grace Tempany.
I now teach at Macha Yoga studio alongside fellow senior teacher Alice Vignoles and her wonderful team. We offer an inclusive range of yoga & meditation classes, events and ceremonies in line with the traditional celtic calendar, embracing all aspects of yoga and bringing our clients beyond the physical practice. This beautiful intimate studio conveniently located in Bray, not far from the Dart station will host our Chakra Yoga course.
My many years of teaching experience, personal study, and all of these courses have enhanced my understanding of the chakra, giving me more and more tools to work with and to share with people in my classes and courses. I’ve seen how layered chakra work really is, and how it keeps returning through different life stages. From those original weekly Chakra classes I developed a series of longer workshops, then taught Chakra modules as a guest teacher on other TTCs. Over the last ten years this course for Yoga teachers evolved, in which we delve even deeper into the incredible chakra system and how to use them in our teaching - I am so excited to invite you to join us on this journey, and to share the gifts of the Chakra Yoga with your own students and clients.
“Chakra Yoga CPD is a year long course, where we meet once a month to explore a chakra, and then bring that chakra into our lives on and off the mat over a few weeks before moving on to the next one.
This allows for a real integration of this fascinating system and creates a course that is as much about self discovery as it is about your teaching skills, as it is about the chakra themselves.”

Approx 54 of the 99 hours are with senior teacher Aoife Ni Mhurchu.
This includes theory lectures, yoga practice, meditation, group exercises, question time, observed teaching practice, mentoring and feedback etc
You will receive a one to one mentoring session with Aoife as part of the course.
We will also have some wonderful guest teachers joining us to share their expertise.
-
Approximately 45 hours of the 99 are non-contact hours, which works out at what I hope is an achievable 5 hours a month.
This will include journalling, personal yoga practice, teaching practice, self assessment and written assessment
Participants will also receive access to a library of Chakra Yoga Classes that they can practice and study at home to support their non contact hours.
-
The course is assessed using continuous assessment of questions, self assessed journalling, personal & teaching practice for each module, an assessed teaching practice and a final written assessment.
Students who do not meet the course requirements will be given the opportunity to repeat the assessments once.
There will be a personal one on one mentoring session with the senior teacher as part of the course prior to final assessment.
*if you have dyslexia for example, we are happy to find another style of assessment that works for you, for example spoken presentation rather than written assessment.
-
Teaching practice and methods are really important, and the course itself will teach participants how to use the Chakra system to plan, structure and theme their yoga classes.
We will spend time studying this, and participants will also plan and teach classes themselves, on top of group teaching exercises.
I’m really proud of our focus on the art of teaching on this course, with observed practice and constructive feedback. It gives new teachers an invaluable opportunity to really develop their teaching skills, experience and style.
-
• The aim of the course is to demystify the chakra, and to embody the essence of the chakra through your own experience
• To learn theory on each chakra (including the kosha, functions, themes, signs of balance/imbalance etc)
• To learn about yoga techniques for each chakra (asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra etc)
• To learn off the mat ways to target and incorporate the chakra system into our yoga classes and life
One of the most important aims of he course is, in a way, nothing to do with the Chakra at all, and all to do with you feeling more confident in your teaching skills and style
-
• At the end of the course graduates will be able to design their own Chakra Yoga classes and workshops
• Confidently discuss and instruct on the chakra in your teaching
• Embody awareness of each chakra and teach from experience
• Have an in depth understanding of how the chakra impact our wellbeing
• Know how to use the Chakra system to help navigate their own personal self awareness and holistic health.

This course is designed for yoga teachers and will count towards CPD for yoga teachers with minimum 200hr YA and YAP certified teachers.
It can be studied alongside trainee teachers foundation course, and is ideal as a follow up to your foundation course due to the courses focus on teaching practice and methods.
It is also open to practitioners of other disciplines i.e meditation, energy work, somatics, dance, healthcare etc who have an established yoga practice as well. Please enquire first to ensure suitability.
-
This is not an “intensive” training course where we cram everything into a weekend, but rather a year long integration of the chakra into our work and lives.
We meet once a month, on a Sunday, from September to May, and spend the whole day exploring one chakra through the lens of yoga.
We then allow all that information to settle, go deeper, and bring that chakra into our practice on and off the mat over a few weeks before moving on to the next chakra.
This allows for a real integration of this fascinating system and creates a course that is as much about self discovery as it is about your teaching skills, as it is about the chakra themselves.

Testimonials
“Aoife has become an important part of the Yoga teacher training course in SCFE. Her ability to share her knowledge and meet the students where they are allows each of them to find deeper understanding.
Her approach is all inclusive and supportive along with detailed notes and time for questions and discussions. Aoife empowered the students with the confidence and understanding to teach their own students... Inspiring them on their journey to become the most informed, generous & empathetic teachers that they can be.”
“After a year of teaching I decided to look for a course which might add to the skills I had learned on the 200 hour course.
I enrolled for Aoife’s Chakra course and found it was exactly what I needed. Learning about the Chakras, practicing in a class taught by Aoife (for each of the Chakras) during our training days, and practicing with other course participants in small groups was a very enjoyable way to learn and develop teaching skills. Bringing this training to my own teaching, was a challenging and interesting experience, which we had time to discuss during the training. The course deepened my understanding of familiar yoga poses and enhanced my ability to teach...
I am very glad I decided to attend Aoife’s Chakra course. It has enhanced the skills I learned on the 200hour TTC. I enjoyed the training days and consolidating the learning between these days. Aoife’s desire to share her knowledge and her gentle manner made this course a pleasure to attend.”
“Aoife’s passion & commitment for yoga and wellbeing shines through her. She has been an incredible mentor to me. I first met Aoife on my own Teacher Training when she brought her Chakra course into the college I was training at. I gained a lot of knowledge around Chakras. She has a lovely approach to teaching. She has endless wisdom & knowledge to share & you can tell straight away she is passionate about sharing it... She holds such a sacred space. As a Yoga Teacher myself, I had 1:1 mentoring with Aoife, which has been invaluable. Each time I work with Aoife I feel at home in myself, that sense of calmness & confidence, a sense of knowing. Every student & every teacher can learn alot from working with Aoife. I would highly recommend her.”
“Aoife is a great teacher of yoga classes as well as facilitator of TTC. I love her gentleness, kindness, the passion and knowledge she teaches with and the personal care she gives to her students. You can be certain to be in good hands with Aoife.”
“Aoife is a wonderful teacher whose passion for passing on the beautiful values and skills of yoga to her students is so evident in every class. She is a natural teacher and her warm and caring personality makes going to classes with her a real treat. Aoife’s Chakra Yoga classes are particularly magical as the atmosphere she creates makes you feel safe and relaxed (no matter what your level) while her balance of meditation, asana and Yoga Nidra help you learn about new elements of yoga you may not have tried before, as well as progressing in those you have. I can’t recommend her classes enough!”
